DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE IN PAIN REGULAR CHECKUP AND CLEAN CAN PREVENT COSTLY TREATMENTS AND UNEXPECTED PAINS
Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are fixed onto teeth to enhance appearance, and in some cases, to protect the teeth. Porcelain veneers are stronger than composite veneers and do not change in colour or stain. More often than not, porcelain veneers are a popular choice to fix cosmetic problems. This can include making slight position alterations, or to change the tooth shape, size and/or colour.
How are veneers done
Porcelain veneers can usually be completed in 2-3 visits. During your first visit, your dentist will give you a local anesthetic to freeze the area that is being worked on. Then, a thin layer of the enamel from your teeth is removed to make room for the veneers. Your dentist then takes a mold of your teeth and sends it off to a laboratory. Because labs often take a couple of weeks to make the custom veneers, your dentist will place temporary veneers to replace the portion of the tooth that was removed.
During the next visit, your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and replace them with the custom permanent ones. These veneers are glued on to your teeth one by one, using composite resin cement.

Although porcelain veneers are an attractive fix to certain dental problems, not everyone in suitable for the procedure. In some cases, your dentist might recommend other treatment options. Some of these situations include but are not limited to:
If a tooth has decay or is in an area that has periodontal disease. These problems must be treated first.
If a tooth has little enamel left, a veneer will not stick to it properly.
If too much of the tooth is missing, a crown may be a better option.
If a person grinds or clenches his or her teeth. This habit is called bruxism and can chip or break porcelain veneers.
